So we have this routine before bed, which I don't think is pushing the limits, just the standard showering, teeth brushing, peeing, story telling and loads of hugs and kisses. Well Kaya is always trying to alter/disrupt the flow of things - toddler power struggle, right?
Last night, we we asked her to go pee before hopping into bed and she said "I already peed yesterday mommy." Yep, that's right, at 8pm last night I was trying to explain the fundamentals of time and bladder function to a 3 year old, which went a little something like:
"Yesterday was yesterday and today is today and you need to empty the hollow, muscular, and distensible (or elastic) organ that sits on the pelvic floor just near your uterus." And I of course added the obligatory parental advisory of "and you have to do it or you'll get sick!"
I think I need to start enriching my toddler vocab, I should have said something like:
"just do it" or "pee or no bedtime story", but you know I can't seem to supress the teacher in me. And there is no time like the present to learn a bit of human anatomy, you can't just stop at head, shoulders, knees and toes, eyes, ears, mouth and nose...I'm sure we can fit bladder into some verse of the song.
